Tabata Workout

A Tabata workout is a high-intensity interval style class that originated in Japan.  Each exercise is performed for 20 seconds, followed by a 10 second rest, repeated for a total of eight times (4 minutes).  These workouts can be very intense, so you want to choose exercises that will challenge your students, but not totally destroy them.

When we do a Tabata workout we usually do a warm-up (5 minutes), 4 exercises (16 minutes), quick break, 4 exercises (16 minutes), quick break, 3 exercises (12 minutes), stretch (5 minutes).  I try to do an upper body, lower body, cardio, and abdominal exercise for each section of the workout.  I also try to keep equipment to a minimum as you are switching up exercises frequently, it can waste a lot of time.  Some sample exercises include: Tabata Workout
