Fruit Picking

Most of us have become quite disconnected from the source of our food.  Activities such as fruit picking get us active, outside, learning about how to grow food, and reestablish a connection to what we are eating.  It can also be used to teach students about nutrition, the benefits of eating locally, learning from local farmers, and maybe even finding a job.

Students can donate the food that they pick to local organizations, your school’s cafeteria or cooking classes, or take it home to enjoy with their family and friends.

Pick Your Own has excellent information on U-Pick farms in Canada, picking and canning guides, and other useful information.
